If you’re reading this, I’m planning on posting a bit more on beehiiv, sharing some thoughts here and there. Appreciate you for following along the journey.
Media and “posting” has been an interesting subject for me, here’s one of my write ups on it from this past January.
My average screen time is around 2-4 hours a day.
I don't think I’ll ever be the type to be chronically online and obsessed with LinkedIn, Twitter, etc, nor do I want to be.
I’ve realized a lot of media is just noise.
I got back on tech Twitter a couple of months ago, thinking I was at the frontier of tech (kind of). But the truth is that it's just noise. Some meme interactions. Some small tips here and there. Quotes I resonate with here and there. Same thing with LinkedIn. It’s nice to know that others are going through similar things. It’s nice to get some likes here and there. But does it move the needle?
I've noticed those who succeed quickly with media generally go all in, building their presence in the span of a few months. I see the power of media in visibility and virality. I’m unsure if I need to chase virality at this point in my career. It doesn’t seem to be the real needle mover.
But is there a point in consistently posting content if you’re not chasing virality? Maybe?
Increased visibility = increased surface area of luck for your career.
I can see the value in posting periodically. Progressively building a strong brand, using it as documentation for your career, and using it as social proof for your career.
Posting periodically gives you increased visibility, and that visibility might be the needle mover. (help me move the needle and blow this up 🙏)
In conclusion, I’m trying to figure out the right balance of media to have in my life.
Appreciate you for reading!
